Jordan Spieth delivered a spectacular performance during the final round of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, despite trailing leader Scottie Scheffler. Spieth birdied seven of his first 12 holes, including a remarkable chip-in on the par-4 12th.
The chip-in was a highlight, as Spieth’s approach shot from the rough overshot the green, leaving him with a difficult downhill lie. He expertly chipped the ball, which rolled smoothly into the cup, earning him a birdie and tying him for second place at 17 under.
Spieth’s round featured six birdies, five of which came from inside 10 feet, showcasing his precise short game. Despite the excitement, he remained seven strokes behind Scheffler, who was steady with a 1-under start to his round.
The Dallas native’s impressive play came after a solid return from wrist surgery earlier this season. Spieth has been steadily improving and looks forward to continuing his career Grand Slam pursuit at the PGA Championship in two weeks.
