An AimPoint Golf instructor recently pointed out that Jordan Spieth took only ten seconds to read a six-foot putt. He emphasized that the traditional method would have taken significantly longer, requiring at least three times more footprints to complete the process.
Spieth is currently competing at Torrey Pines, San Diego, for the 2025 Genesis Invitational, which began on Thursday, February 13. He is among the few golfers utilizing the AimPoint method, a modern approach that contrasts with the conventional way of reading putts on the green.
On Friday, February 14, AimPoint Golf shared a clip of Spieth reading the putt, highlighting the efficiency of the technique. “Spieth taking a whole 10 seconds and 6 footprints to read a 6’ putt. A traditional read would have taken much longer and put at least triple the footprints,” the account stated.
Recently, Jordan Spieth defended the AimPoint method after fellow PGA Tour player Lucas Glover called for its ban, citing slow play concerns. Spieth responded by suggesting that if AimPoint were banned, other equipment changes, like long putters, should also be considered. He argued that the method is only time-consuming if not executed correctly.
