Emma Raducanu learns Miami Open draw as tough test awaits in Florida

Emma Raducanu is set to begin her Miami Open campaign against 19-year-old qualifier Sayaka Ishii. The British star, aiming for her first title since her 2021 U.S. Open triumph, will need to navigate a tough draw, with eighth-seed Emma Navarro potentially awaiting in the second round. A deep run in Miami could help her break back into the top 50 rankings after recent struggles with injuries.

Katie Boulter also faces a challenging path, starting against American Peyton Stearns, a former U.S. Open fourth-round competitor. If victorious, Boulter will have to overcome Elise Mertens before potentially meeting world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the round of 32. Despite the tough draw, Boulter can take confidence from her strong performance in Miami last year, where she reached the fourth round.

Both Raducanu and Boulter are eager to redeem themselves after disappointing performances at Indian Wells. Raducanu fell in the first round to Moyuka Uchijima, while Boulter exited in the second round against Elena Rybakina. With top seeds like Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Swiatek in the mix, the Miami Open promises a competitive battle as the British duo looks to make their mark.
