Kerr-less Chelsea thrashed by defending champs and left needing second leg miracle

Barcelona delivered a commanding 4-1 win over Chelsea in the Women’s Champions League semi-final first leg, with Claudia Pina scoring twice. Despite a missed penalty from Alexia Putellas, the defending champions dominated throughout the match.

Ewa Pajor opened the scoring, and Pina extended the lead after the break. Chelsea briefly rallied with a stunning strike from Sandy Baltimore, but goals from Irene Paredes and Pina sealed a dominant result for the Spanish side.

Chelsea struggled in the absence of injured star Sam Kerr, while Barcelona’s control and clinical edge proved too much. A record crowd watched as Barca executed their game plan with precision.

Coach Pere Romeu praised his team’s complete performance but warned the tie isn’t over. Chelsea must produce a near-perfect performance at Stamford Bridge on April 27 to overturn the three-goal deficit and reach the Lisbon final.
