As the holiday season wraps up, I can’t help but reflect on the lessons I’ve learned — some the hard way. This year, a back injury from an overzealous summer golf binge left me sidelined and introspective. Playing six consecutive days of golf, paired with a couple of post-round runs, seemed like a great idea at the time.
But when an alarming pain struck, I realized my folly. The aftermath included weeks of discomfort and the humbling realization that even the most devoted golfer needs to listen to their body. Yet, through this setback, I gained a newfound appreciation for balance and recovery. As I return to the game with gratitude and renewed perspective, I share this wish for everyone: indulge, but wisely.
With that in mind, I present 24 wishes for the holidays, starting with hopes for the golfing greats who inspire us. For Tiger Woods, a reinvention of his iconic Sunday Red logo, signifying another major victory. For Charley Hull, a triumph at the Evian, and for Rory McIlroy, the elusive Masters win.
On the lighter side, let’s hope for more of Scottie Scheffler’s wry humor and perhaps a golf-style “Manningcast” to liven up broadcasts. And as for us fans? May we savor the simple joys: a Friday afternoon on the course, a brat at the turn, and maybe, just maybe, winning that Masters ticket lottery. Here’s to a year of good golf, cherished moments, and wishes fulfilled.
