Emma Raducanu has admitted to having “low expectations” ahead of the Queen’s Club tournament, citing an ongoing back injury that disrupted her grass-court preparation. The former US Open champion is easing into the season following a second-round exit in Paris.
The British No. 2 has been dealing with back spasms throughout the year, with her latest flare-up limiting her ability to train. Raducanu only recently resumed hitting points on grass, just weeks before Wimbledon begins on June 30.
Raducanu is scheduled to face a qualifier in her opening match. Should she advance, she may meet defending Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova in a challenging second-round clash at Queen’s.
Despite wanting success on home soil, Raducanu remains realistic. “I’ve only had two or three days on grass,” she said. “It’s early days, so I’m just taking it step by step and managing what I can.”
