Nelly Korda, daughter of former Czech tennis stars Petr Korda, the 1998 Australian Open champion, and Olympian Regina Rajchrtova, has carved out her own path in professional golf. Following in the footsteps of her sister Jessica, she rose to prominence while her brother Sebastian pursued a successful tennis career.
Before turning professional, Korda was the world’s top-ranked junior in 2016. That same year, she won the Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge on the LPGA Futures Tour. Her ninth-place finish on the money list earned her an LPGA Tour card for the 2017 season.
Her breakthrough came in 2018 when she captured her first LPGA Tour victory at the Taiwan Championship. In 2019, she lifted the Australian Open trophy, entered the world’s top 10, and later secured wins at the French Open on the Ladies European Tour and the Taiwan Championship once again.
The 2021 season was a career-defining year for the Florida native. She won the Gainbridge LPGA in February, followed by the Meijer LPGA Classic in June. The following week, she clinched her first major title at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Atlanta, rising to world No. 1. That summer, she went on to crown her achievements with Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
