‘No, daddy! get back’ – Father of 4 Andy Murray opens up on an embarrassing moment with his daughter

Andy Murray may be nearing the end of his professional tennis career, but when it comes to family life, he’s thriving. The three-time Grand Slam champion, who has battled countless injuries throughout his playing days, is now relishing his role as a devoted father of four. Like many parents, Murray admits he often finds himself unintentionally embarrassing his children—something he embraces as part of his fatherly duties.

Recently, Murray revealed a lighthearted story about a school drop-off gone wrong for his daughter.

Murray the Family Man

Murray married longtime partner Kim Sears in April 2015, and together they share four children. Their eldest daughters, Sophia and Edie, often experience his cheeky side. During an appearance on The Great British Bake Off, Murray recalled how he embarrassed his 7-year-old daughter at the school gate.

He explained:

“The 7-year-old is already a little embarrassed by me when I drop her off. I’ll say, ‘Give me a hug and a little kiss goodbye,’ and she’s like, ‘No daddy! Get back in the car, it’s so embarrassing.’”

Like many dads, Murray finds amusement in these small moments—and isn’t about to stop teasing his kids anytime soon.

The Dad Jokes Keep Coming

Alongside his playful antics, Murray is also armed with the ultimate dad weapon: corny jokes. Sharing one of his favorites, he said,

“She doesn’t really like the dad jokes. I’ve got an Andy Murray one—‘What time does Andy Murray go to bed?’ The answer? ‘Tennish.’”

While the show’s host barely cracked a smile, Murray proudly delivered the punchline, showing he’s every bit the typical dad—one who can make his kids groan with equal parts laughter and embarrassment.

As his children grow older, fans can expect Murray to keep leaning into the role, armed with more cringeworthy jokes and funny stories. For now, his legacy extends far beyond the tennis court, living on in the playful bond he shares with his kids.
