Maria Sharapova traded the tennis court for the beaches of Cancun this week, enjoying a much-deserved holiday after a challenging run on tour.
The 38-year-old star, who recently faced her 15th straight loss to Serena Williams, was spotted soaking up the sun with a close friend. Looking carefree and relaxed, Sharapova showed off her toned physique in a revealing two-piece as she strolled along the beach before cooling off in the ocean.
Standing tall at 6ft 2in, the Russian champion displayed her washboard abs and enviable figure while chatting and splashing around in the waves with her companion, who also sported a chic bikini.
Keeping it simple, Sharapova tied her hair up in a casual topknot and skipped makeup for the day, relying instead on sunscreen and sunglasses to beat the heat. She was also seen sipping on refreshing tropical juices to stay hydrated.
Despite going makeup-free and fresh from the sea, Sharapova looked effortlessly flawless. At one point, she adjusted her bikini bottoms with the kind of elegance only a superstar could pull off.
Speaking recently about her latest defeat to Serena, Sharapova remained positive:
“Despite my results against her, I still look forward to playing her because you learn so much from that level of tennis. After the match, you know exactly where you need to improve and what to work on.”
For now, though, the tennis champion seemed perfectly content swapping rackets for relaxation under the Mexican sun.
