Nelly Korda Loses World No. 1 Ranking After 71-Week Reign
Nelly Korda’s remarkable stretch as the world’s top-ranked golfer ended after 71 weeks. Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul reclaimed the No. 1 position following a stronger finish at the AIG Women’s British Open, where Korda tied for 36th.
Korda’s lead had already narrowed heading into the final major. A three-over 75 on Sunday sealed her fate, while Thitikul, with a two-over 74, secured a tie for 30th—enough to edge ahead in the Rolex Rankings once again.
Thitikul, 22, boasts consistent performances this season, including a May victory at the Mizuho Americas Open. With eight top-10 finishes and a runner-up playoff appearance, her return to No. 1 was driven by steady, elite play.
Despite the slip, Korda has had a strong season, making every cut in 13 events and posting five top-10s. Though winless in 2025, she remains a major contender with five months of competition still ahead.
