After ‘Nervous’ PGA Tour Experience With Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, Caddie Leaves Bold 4-Word Message

Former NFL quarterback Derek Anderson made an unexpected PGA Tour debut as a caddie after receiving a last-minute call from friend Kevin Chappell. What made it more surreal was being grouped with golf heavyweights Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.

Though a seasoned pro in football, Anderson admitted to being nervous, especially under the watchful eyes of fans and cameras. His hands were sweating, and the pressure of the moment took him by surprise as he navigated the fairways.

Despite never having caddied professionally, Anderson quickly found his rhythm. Light-hearted exchanges with Lowry and McIlroy helped ease his nerves, and he embraced the challenge with humor and humility.

Reflecting on the experience, Anderson called it “incredible” and said he would “do it again.” His bold four-word message—*“I’d do it again!”*—may hint at more fairways ahead for the ex-quarterback-turned-caddie.
