Andy Murray admits wife ‘doesn’t want to see him’ as condition agreed after career change

Andy Murray says his wife, Kim Sears, is fully behind his new love for golf — although he admits she might simply enjoy having him out of the house. The former world No. 1 has thrown himself into the sport since retiring from tennis, and he’s already performing at an impressively high level.

Murray’s latest outing came at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Pro-Am in October, where the two-time Wimbledon champion played alongside pro golfer Eddie Pepperell. Competing in Scotland, he was grouped with Ryder Cup star Tyrrell Hatton and delivered a strong performance that matched his handicap of two.
Reports even suggested Murray managed to out-drive one of Europe’s Ryder Cup standouts on certain holes. After the event, he posted on Instagram, thanking Pepperell for being a great partner and joking about his own “rubbish golf.” He also poked fun at fans who kindly avoided posting a clip of his bunker mistake, sarcastically calling them “horrible b******s” for their supposed sympathy.
Since stepping away from professional tennis in May 2024, Murray has spent much of his free time perfecting his golf game. When he appeared on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, he was asked how Kim felt about his hours on the course. Murray responded with a laugh, saying she likely prefers it that way.

He joked that she doesn’t want him hanging around the house all day, adding that she’s happy with his golfing routine as long as he handles the school drop-off and pick-up duties. According to him, she probably isn’t eager to see him during the day — or at least that’s how he interprets it.
