Andy Murray and wife, Kim Sears get openly affectionate as they attend basketball game in New York City

With the US Open just around the corner, Andy Murray took some time off to enjoy a night out with his longtime partner, Kim Sears. The couple looked relaxed and affectionate as they attended an exhibition basketball game between the USA and Puerto Rico at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

Murray, 27, was spotted with his arm wrapped lovingly around Kim, while she held his hand throughout the match. Despite being focused on the game, the tennis star didn’t shy away from showing his affection.

Both kept things casual for the outing. Andy wore a light blue Adidas hoodie, trainers, and black track pants, while Kim looked chic in a black top, jeans, and strappy sandals.

The night wasn’t without a little star attention either. Fellow athlete Rory McIlroy leaned forward from his courtside seat to greet Murray, and filmmaker Spike Lee even walked over to shake his hand.

Murray heads into the US Open hopeful, despite not having lifted a trophy since his Wimbledon triumph the previous year. Returning from back surgery, he admitted it’s been a challenge to regain consistency but insists he feels strong and ready to compete. “It takes time to get back after injury,” he said. “The tour is very open right now, and I just need to keep believing in myself.”

Meanwhile, sports talent clearly runs in the Murray family. Andy’s mother, Judy Murray, announced she’ll be joining the next season of Strictly Come Dancing, sharing her excitement through the show’s official Twitter page.

It was a night that blended romance, sport, and celebrity encounters—showing that even with a big tournament ahead, Andy Murray knows how to balance his game with life off the court.
