The Travelers Championship suffered another setback following Jordan Spieth’s surprising mid-round withdrawal. Si Woo Kim, a former PLAYERS Champion, exited after re-aggravating his persistent back injury. His departure raised concerns about the physical demands placed on PGA Tour players competing week after week.
Kim started strong with an even-par 71 but struggled in Round 2, ultimately withdrawing after going five-over by the 12th hole. This marks the second time this season Kim has withdrawn mid-event due to recurring back issues.
Spieth’s withdrawal, his first in 297 PGA Tour starts, also came unexpectedly. Battling severe upper back and neck discomfort, Spieth pulled out on the 13th tee after a frustrating +5 performance through 12 holes in Round 1.
Both exits have significantly altered the tournament’s landscape, leaving fans questioning the competitiveness of this year’s Travelers Championship. The back-to-back withdrawals of two prominent players have overshadowed the event and raised broader concerns about player health.
