Charley Hull revisits childhood golf course during a busy day
Golfer Charley Hull has been giving fans a glimpse into her life away from the professional circuit, showing she still makes time for practice despite her busy schedule.
The Kettering native recently celebrated her first victory since 2022 by winning the 2025 Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G. After the triumph, Hull enjoyed some downtime at home with her nephews and even indulged in a casual outing at Scalini London.
Still, the LPGA star hasn’t strayed far from the course. She shared photos of herself practicing in a black Malbon Golf outfit at Kettering Golf Club — a place with deep personal meaning. Hull explained that she grew up playing there, often spending hours on the range. She even mentioned hitting 30 balls on her latest visit, calling the course her “old stomping ground.”
It was at Kettering where Hull first began playing golf at just two years old alongside her father, Dave. By the age of nine, her competitive streak was already clear as she regularly tested herself against adults — and often won. That same year, she claimed the Ladies Golf Union Championship at Turnberry, beating 46-year-old Janice Cloran in a playoff.
She would go on to win multiple national titles and represent Europe at
Hull also recently spoke about those early memories on the Sky Sports Golf podcast with Kelly Cates. She recalled the time, at age seven, when she managed to beat a 17-year-old boy at Kettering. According to Hull, the teenager didn’t take the loss well — swearing at her and tossing her ball into the bushes. “I loved it,” she laughed, calling the moment “really funny.”
Hull credited competing with boys while growing up for sharpening her game, praising their power and speed as factors that pushed her to raise her own level.
