Danielle Collins speaks out on ‘pathetic’ Emma Raducanu incident while at French Open

Danielle Collins has spoken out after a viral moment during her Strasbourg Open clash with Emma Raducanu, calling the media frenzy “really pathetic.” Collins confronted a cameraman mid-match, citing discomfort and lack of space for both players.

Collins, who defeated Raducanu in three sets, later emphasized that she was simply asking for personal space at her workplace. “That shouldn’t be controversial,” she said, adding that such requests are often misunderstood, especially from women athletes.

Raducanu supported Collins’ stance, explaining the American was advocating for her during the incident. “She was saying the cameraman was really close. I didn’t take it badly at all,” Raducanu told reporters at the French Open.

Collins, frustrated by the attention, said her focus should be on performance, not avoiding cameras. “We have the technology to get good shots without invading space,” she added. “It’s exhausting always having to justify basic boundaries.”
