‘Don’t give me a kiss and cuddle anymore’: Andy Murray jokes he’s ‘back to reality’ with a bump as his daughter tells him to ‘stay in the car’ on the school run

Andy Murray has traded the spotlight of the Australian Open for family life back home in the UK. The 38-year-old tennis star shared a lighthearted moment on Twitter, revealing that his six-year-old daughter asked him not to give her a kiss or cuddle at school drop-off, instead telling him to “just stay in the car.” Murray playfully described it as a “tough game” and admitted it felt like a bump back to everyday reality.

The three-time Grand Slam champion, who recently lost to Roberto Bautista Agut in Melbourne, has been married to Kim Sears since 2015. Together, they are parents to four young children: Sophia, Edie, Teddie, and their youngest daughter. Despite his packed travel schedule, Murray makes it clear that family life keeps him grounded.

Last year, he competed in 19 tournaments around the world, including intensive training sessions in Florida with coach Ivan Lendl. After returning from Australia, he won’t have much downtime, with Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells, and Miami already lined up for the coming months. His current goal is to improve his ranking enough to secure seeded positions in major tournaments, avoiding tough first-round draws against top players.

Although his ranking has only edged up to 62, Murray believes his current form could push him higher. He’s also seen as a likely future Davis Cup captain for Britain, though for now, his focus remains on competing. Having been the last British singles player standing in Melbourne, Murray showed he still has the fight to stay in the game—both on court and at home as a dad.
