Emma Raducanu ends season early just days after suffering ANOTHER health scare – but …..

Emma Raducanu has officially wrapped up her 2025 tennis season after suffering yet another health setback — but not before securing a one-year contract extension with her coach, Francis Roig.

The British No. 1 endured early exits in both Wuhan and Ningbo, where she required medical attention during her matches for issues related to blood pressure and overall wellness. Following her defeat to China’s Zhu Lin, reports suggested she might cut her season short — and that’s exactly what she’s done.

Raducanu has been feeling unwell for over a week and has decided to withdraw from her remaining tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong to focus on recovery. She plans to return to training soon, with Roig by her side during the pre-season.

Raducanu began working with Roig — a veteran coach who spent 17 years on Rafael Nadal’s team — in August, and despite mixed results, their partnership has flourished. The pair bonded quickly, with Raducanu even skipping sightseeing at the US Open to dedicate extra hours on the practice court. Their collaboration has now been extended into the 2026 season, with both expressing enthusiasm about continuing their progress together.

Overall, Raducanu’s 2025 campaign shows signs of steady development. She set out to remain fit and play a fuller schedule — goals she mostly achieved, aside from a few back spasms and illness-related retirements. Competing in 50 matches across 21 tournaments, she recorded her busiest season yet and climbed back to World No. 29 — her best ranking since 2022. While she didn’t advance past the third round in any Grand Slam, Raducanu displayed glimpses of top-tier form against players like Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka. With Roig guiding her through the off-season, the focus now shifts to bridging the gap between Raducanu and the elite of women’s tennis in 2026.
