Emma Raducanu drowned the sorrows of her heartbreaking Canadian Open exit by taking car rides. Raducanu, who was on track for a strong run in Montreal, lost to Amanda Anisimova in the Round of 32 in straight sets on Saturday (Aug 2).
This defeat caused her to drop to 38th in the WTA rankings, making it challenging for her to be seeded at the US Open. Earlier, the 2021 US Open champion had a promising semifinal run at the Citi DC Open but fell to Anna Kalinskaya 4-6, 3-6.
However, Raducanu took some time off from tennis to relax during a car ride. She enjoyed a pleasant, sunny view of the road while grooving to “Break My Love,” a song by the Australian alternative group Rufus du Sol.
She shared a clip of the view on her Instagram stories on Monday.
Raducanu will aim to move past her disappointment in Montreal and focus on the Cincinnati Open starting August 9.
Former British pro offers hope to Emma Raducanu
Despite her titleless 2025 season so far, former British ATP player Tim Henman believes Emma Raducanu is still progressing in her career. In an exclusive interview with Tennis365, he said it is unfair to judge her based on short-term results and that her development should be viewed over several years.
“This is not about the next four weeks for Emma, it’s about the next four years and where she can go,” Henman said. “What is success? Is it getting back into the top 30 or maybe the top 10? It’s about being the best version of yourself and maximizing your potential.”
He explained that Raducanu needs to find consistency with her current coaching team while praising the work of her coach, Mark Petchey.
“She now has a good team around her, and I hope she sticks with it. Petchey has been around the game for a long time and has been good for her. She has played many tournaments, been on court for lots of matches, and built up physical resilience over a long season,” he added.
Emma Raducanu will be looking for a deep run in Cincinnati to secure a seeded
spot at the 2025 US Open.
