Jamie Murray, brother of tennis icon Andy Murray, stirred discussion with his take on Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper’s form. He asserted that Raducanu is “miles away” from Draper in terms of current performance and consistency.
Raducanu, once hailed as Britain’s tennis sensation after her 2021 US Open victory, has struggled to replicate that form. Draper, though yet to win a Major, now sits at No. 5 in the world and boasts three ATP titles, including a Masters.
Jamie believes Raducanu’s fame stems more from her breakout moment than sustained success. He stressed Draper is at a “completely different place” in his career and far more consistent at the elite level today.
Speaking to *Mirror Sport*, Jamie said Raducanu’s current level doesn’t match Draper’s. While acknowledging her US Open win, he pointed out her lack of big-match victories since, with her World No. 45 ranking highlighting the gap.
Both Brits exited Wimbledon early this year. Raducanu lost in Round 3 to World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, while Draper suffered a second-round defeat against seasoned campaigner Marin Cilic in a tightly contested match.
Despite Draper’s early exit, Jamie remains optimistic. He backed Draper to grow into a top contender, confident he’ll soon challenge the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner on the sport’s biggest stages.
