British tennis star Emma Raducanu has shared how her friendship with Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz blossomed, and why their bond feels “genuine” both on and off the court.
The 2021 US Open champion revealed that their connection began during her breakout run at Wimbledon that same year. Since then, she’s come to deeply admire Alcaraz’s attitude and outlook, describing the five-time Grand Slam winner as “a really positive light to be around.”
The pair are now set to join forces in the mixed doubles category at the upcoming US Open , a partnership that fans are already buzzing about.
Raducanu said she first took notice of Alcaraz while watching him play at Queen’s Club, where his energy and humility stood out. “He’s incredibly talented, but what I really love about Carlos are his values and the way he carries himself,” she said. “We just clicked; it’s a genuine connection.”
As they prepare to make their debut as a duo in New York, Raducanu expressed excitement about sharing the court with the Spanish superstar, noting that their friendship goes beyond tennis. “We have a lot of respect for each other,” she added. “It’s fun, it’s natural — and I think that shows when we play
together.”
