Emma Raducanu sticking to her guns with latest decision despite three-match losing streak

Emma Raducanu remains determined despite her recent struggles, accepting a wildcard into the WTA 1000 event in Doha. This marks her third consecutive tournament appearance, showing her commitment to competing regularly despite a three-match losing streak. Her latest losses came in Abu Dhabi and Singapore.

The 22-year-old Brit has faced challenges maintaining consistency on tour, often sidelined by injuries. In 2024, she focused on improving her fitness rather than competing frequently. However, for the 2025 season, Raducanu has prioritized match play, believing her current setup allows her to train effectively while traveling.

Her decision to compete extensively follows a missed start to the season due to a back issue. After losing a close three-set match in Singapore, she quickly entered Abu Dhabi, where she fell to former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova. Despite setbacks, she remains eager to test herself against top competition.

Tennis analysts, including Tim Henman, support Raducanu’s approach, emphasizing that consistent match play will eventually yield results. While her performances haven’t yet translated into deep tournament runs, her willingness to compete week after week signals a shift in mindset—one that could pay off as the season progresses.
