Former tennis star Camila Giorgi has denied claims she fled Italy after her sudden retirement in May to pursue a modelling career. Her lawyer insists she left the country for professional reasons and was never hiding or avoiding authorities.
Giorgi, 32, has faced accusations of unpaid rent, theft of valuable furnishings from a villa near Florence, and tax evasion. Her former landlord claims she left without notice, removing items worth tens of thousands of euros.
She is also under investigation for allegedly using a fake Covid-19 vaccine certificate in 2022. Giorgi and her lawyer deny the charges, maintaining she met all health requirements through legitimate means.
Despite the controversies, Giorgi has remained active on social media, frequently sharing modelling photos with her 730,000 Instagram followers. She reportedly returned to Italy recently and maintains her innocence amid the ongoing legal and media scrutiny.
