Australian defender Ellie Carpenter has officially joined Chelsea FC on a four-year deal, reuniting with Matildas teammate Sam Kerr. Kerr congratulated Carpenter warmly as the duo prepare to rekindle their on-field chemistry in London.

Carpenter brings elite pedigree to the Blues, boasting two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles and five domestic league trophies from her successful stint at Lyon. She recently captained the Matildas in June friendlies against Slovenia.

Excited for the challenge, Carpenter called Chelsea “one of the biggest clubs in women’s football” and expressed her desire to grow, learn, and help the team win silverware under coach Sonia Bompastor.

Having played under Bompastor at Lyon, Carpenter praised her direct style and winning mentality. With unfinished business in the Champions League, Carpenter is determined to help Chelsea lift Europe’s biggest prize.
