Emma Raducanu addressed recent romance rumors involving Carlos Alcaraz with good humor, laughing off the claims during a BBC Sport interview. The speculation began after the announcement of their mixed doubles partnership for the 2025 US Open.
Reacting to the viral chatter, Raducanu said she found it amusing that fans were linking them romantically. “I’m glad the internet’s having fun and we’re providing some entertainment,” she responded with a smile, showing no discomfort over the situation.
Raducanu explained how their friendship dates back to 2021. Both stars had breakthrough performances that year, and their bond grew as they shared similar career highs at Wimbledon and the US Open.
The British star also revealed they stayed in touch over the years. She praised Alcaraz’s continuous success and said their friendship began before either had major wins. “It’s been amazing to see,” she added warmly.
Discussing their mixed doubles entry, Raducanu revealed Alcaraz was the one who initiated the idea earlier this year. She was both honored and excited, and quickly accepted after consulting her coach.
While fans eagerly await their US Open appearance, Raducanu is currently focused on the Eastbourne Open, where she’s set to face Ann Li, while both players also prepare for Wimbledon.
