Golf fans react to unexpected Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth news

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports are set to expand TGL in 2026, with a new Dallas-based team potentially joining the league. Co-founder Mike McCarley confirmed the expansion plans, sparking speculation among fans about Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth’s possible participation.

Scheffler and Spieth, both Dallas residents, opted out of TGL’s inaugural season due to scheduling conflicts. However, with the potential addition of a Dallas franchise and new stadium sites across the U.S., the league’s accessibility could increase, making their participation in 2026 more feasible.

TGL’s debut season in 2025 saw mixed reactions from PGA Tour fans but achieved impressive ratings. ESPN reported an average of 500,000 viewers per night, while TMRW Sports’ data suggested numbers as high as 850,000. The league also successfully attracted a younger audience, with a median viewer age of 52.

The inaugural TGL season concluded with Atlanta Drive GC emerging as champions. As TGL eyes expansion, rumors of a $77 million investment for a Dallas franchise fuel anticipation. Whether Scheffler and Spieth join remains uncertain, but the move could significantly boost the league’s ap
peal.
