Her lawyer reveals the truth about Camila Giorgi’s tax evasion in detail

Camila Giorgi’s lawyer, Cristian Carmelo Nicotra, has shed light on the Italian tennis star’s sudden retirement, addressing ongoing rumors about her financial dealings. According to Nicotra, while Giorgi does have pending matters with Italy’s Revenue Agency, she has already been cleared by the public prosecutor’s office. He emphasized that there was no flight abroad or attempt to dodge her responsibilities.

However, the Revenue Agency has issued a third-party seizure order to the Italian Tennis and Padel Federation, claiming Giorgi owes €464,000 in back taxes.

Nicotra explained that Giorgi was acquitted in December 2023 by the Prato prosecutor’s office over undeclared income from 2013 and 2014. The sums involved—about €11,000 one year and €32,000 the next—fell below the €50,000 threshold for criminal charges. While she must pay the outstanding amounts, the case does not amount to a crime. He also noted that although investigations could extend to 2016, when Giorgi officially returned to Italy, these matters are minor. Ultimately, Nicotra stressed, Giorgi retired simply because she was “tired.”

Meanwhile, Giorgi has spoken out on Instagram, calling many of the circulating reports “fake.” In her post, she urged fans to follow her page for accurate updates and formally confirmed her retirement from professional tennis.
