Jordan Spieth, a celebrated PGA Tour golfer and former world number one, recently opened up about an awkward moment at a pickleball court. Despite years of experience in front of massive golf crowds, this experience unsettled him.
Spieth admitted he felt out of place during a public pickleball match, especially knowing he wasn’t the most skilled on the court. He confessed that performing in front of 500 people while feeling unprepared made him uncomfortable and self-conscious.
The golfer explained that he’s fine with crowds when he’s confident in his abilities. But being the least experienced player in front of an audience was a new and unwelcome challenge for him.
Beyond pickleball, Spieth also shared his views on LIV Golf’s influence on the PGA Tour. He acknowledged that LIV may have accelerated key changes and spurred the Tour to evolve and strengthen its offerings.
Spieth believes the competition prompted the PGA Tour to reassess its structure, enhancing events and player retention. While uncertain if the shift was inevitable, he’s clear that LIV Golf played a role in fast-tracking the transformation.
