After 20 years of perseverance, 53-year-old Tom Greller has earned his place at the 2025 U.S. Senior Open. The milestone sparked praise from golf stars Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler, who celebrated his remarkable achievement.
Greller qualified on the East Course at Colorado’s Broadmoor, where Spieth and Fowler were practicing. As Greller’s brother Michael is Spieth’s longtime caddie, the duo followed every moment of Tom’s tense final round with genuine excitement.
Following his qualification, Greller received heartfelt texts from both stars. He revealed they were “refreshing the phone every couple of minutes,” eager for updates. His brother Michael, he added, “might have been more excited than me.”
Spieth also arranged a practice round with legend Ernie Els for Greller, making the experience even more surreal. When not competing, the Oregon native works as a medical device salesman—now a golfer living out a dream.
