Jordan Spieth lightened the mood after his final round at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, cracking a joke that had CBS reporter Amanda Balionis in stitches. Spieth playfully questioned whether Scottie Scheffler’s commanding lead would “hold up,” despite Scheffler already sealing a dominant 31-under win.
Spieth, finishing fourth with a career-best 9-under final round and 19-under overall, showed impressive form. With the PGA Championship approaching, his performance suggests he’s peaking at the right time, raising hopes he might soon join golf’s elite by completing the Grand Slam.
Reflecting on Rory McIlroy’s Masters win, Spieth admitted it inspired him. He praised McIlroy’s perseverance and noted similarities in their paths. Confident in his progress since wrist surgery, Spieth said his ball-striking was improving and he’s “on the right track back.”
Though he didn’t win in Texas, Spieth remained gracious, calling Scheffler’s form “very inspiring.” Acknowledging how their roles have reversed in recent years, Spieth said, “I was definitely better than him, and now I’m definitely not. I hate admitting that—but it motivates me.”
Sleuth was at one time , the best around golfer….but things change and over the past 3 years Scottie has become the best golfer for the past 4 years.
Jordan just doesn’t have it any more!!
