Jordan Spieth has received a player’s exemption to compete in the upcoming Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines. The event, typically hosted at Riviera Country Club, was relocated due to California wildfires. Spieth will join a star-studded field, including Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.
The PGA Tour’s Signature Event will also feature Justin Rose, who earned a sponsor exemption. Sponsor exemptions allow tournament organizers to invite four players at their discretion. Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland secured the final two spots, rounding out a competitive lineup for this prestigious tournament.
Spieth returns after a six-month hiatus due to wrist surgery in August 2024. His comeback at Pebble Beach was challenging, finishing tied for 69th at even par. However, he avoided setbacks, and considering the windy conditions, some rust was expected in his performance.
Now, he aims to make a stronger impact at Torrey Pines. Last year, Spieth faced an unfortunate disqualification for signing an incorrect scorecard. With renewed determination, he seeks redemption and hopes to contend against golf’s elite in the Genesis Invitational.
