Jordan Spieth delivered a strong performance at the WM Phoenix Open, tying for fourth place with a score of 16-under 268. This marked his first top-10 finish in nearly 15 PGA Tour events. However, despite his solid outing, Spieth revealed three key challenges that hindered his game throughout the tournament.
During the post-tournament press conference, Spieth cited difficulties adjusting to a new driver, a new putter, and lingering wrist issues. He admitted that while his putting improved over the week, he struggled with consistency. Additionally, after his previous driver cracked, he had to adapt to a replacement, which impacted his driving accuracy—a skill he usually considers a strength.
Spieth also discussed the toll his wrist injury took on his performance. He aggravated the condition during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, worsening a pre-existing issue that required surgery in 2024. Despite these setbacks, the 31-year-old golfer remained competitive, finishing well ahead of many seasoned professionals at the event.
In the 2024 PGA Tour season, Spieth earned a total of $2,732,591 from 22 tournaments, making the cut in 14. His highest earnings came from The Sentry, where he placed third and took home $1,360,000. He also secured over $100,000 in six other events, including the WM Phoenix Open, Valero Texas Open, and The Open Championship.
