“lets do dinner”: Maria Sharapova enjoys a drink with David Beckham during fun night out months after Wimbledon encounter

Maria Sharapova and David Beckham, two icons from the worlds of tennis and football, recently enjoyed a night out together, months after first crossing paths at Wimbledon.

On Tuesday evening (September 9), Sharapova posted a photo from what looked like a lively party, where she and Beckham shared drinks. The retired footballer looked sharp in a suit with a pint of Stella Artois in hand, while Sharapova, dressed stylishly, raised a bottle of the same beer. She added the playful tag, #letsdodinner.

This meet-up follows their appearance together earlier in the summer at Wimbledon’s opening day, where the 2004 champion snapped a selfie with Beckham. That day, the All England Club was filled with familiar faces, including Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, ex-England manager Gareth Southgate, and cricketer Stuart Broad.

Sharapova has also been celebrating a major career milestone. In 2025, she was officially inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The five-time Grand Slam winner made history as the first Russian woman to complete a career Grand Slam and reach the world No. 1 ranking.

Reflecting on her journey during her Hall of Fame speech, Sharapova recalled arriving in the U.S. with her father in 1994 with just $700. From there, she went on to capture 36 WTA titles, earn over $28 million in prize money, and post an impressive 645–171 match record. She described her 2004 Wimbledon triumph at just 17 as the defining moment that launched her career.

Since retiring, Sharapova has stepped back from the spotlight to focus on her family life, though she continues to make occasional appearances—like this memorable night out with Beckham.
