Lexi Thompson is mourning a heartfelt family loss. On July 12, she shared a touching tribute to Bootsie, her mother’s beloved cat of 18 years. The emotional post featured a sweet farewell on her Instagram Story: “RIP Bootsie 🙏😢”.
Bootsie’s passing, sadly, coincided with Lexi’s brother Scott Thompson’s birthday, making the day especially emotional. Her mother Judy initially broke the news on Instagram, expressing sorrow over losing their longtime companion, calling it “not a good birthday present.”
The moment comes during a transitional year for Lexi. Having announced her retirement from full-time LPGA play in 2024, she has since participated in select tournaments, including a strong T12 finish at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
Despite the personal loss, Thompson remains active both on and off the course. She recently shared her new \$140 Puma shoes in a mid-workout post, thanking the brand for enhancing her training experience as she continues her competitive journey.
