Lexi Thompson is taking time off from golf following her early exit at the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open. She plans to hit the road for three weeks with her dog before entering a long-awaited break.
The 30-year-old golfer missed the cut at Erin Hills after carding rounds of 73 and 74. It marked her fourth consecutive year of failing to progress past the second round of the prestigious LPGA Major.
Thompson skipped the Shoprite LPGA Classic and will also be absent from the upcoming Meijer LPGA Classic. Despite reduced appearances, she’s keeping fans updated with glimpses of her travel plans on Instagram.

She posted a story showing her dog, captioning: “3 weeks on the road starting now before a long break😊.” The journey symbolizes a much-needed mental reset after a challenging season on tour.
Thompson, who has competed in five LPGA events this year, had her best finish at the Chevron Championship, tying for 11th. While she missed cuts at two events, her overall form has remained respectable.
Addressing online criticism for slow play, Thompson clarified her group wasn’t warned or out of position. She emphasized she isn’t retired but simply playing a reduced schedule based on preference and enjoyment.
