Lindsey Vonn gives honest take on her top-20 finish in training on return to Saalbach World Championships

Lindsey Vonn reflected on her 20th-place finish in training at the Saalbach World Championships, marking her return to competitive skiing. The American legend, who came out of retirement last year, remains in pursuit of her first podium finish since her comeback.

After a disappointing stretch in Italy and Germany, Vonn took a week-long break before hitting the Zwölferkogel slopes for the first time in 23 years. She clocked in over two seconds behind leader Lara Gut-Behrami but emphasized that training times do not define race performance.

Despite the slow run, the three-time Olympic medalist remained upbeat, enjoying the course and comparing it to her early training days in Vail. She shared her excitement on social media, posting a video of her run with the caption, “Sliding into Saalbach like…”

Vonn is chasing history, aiming to become the oldest skier to win a World Championship medal. Confident in her progression, she downplayed her training time, stating, “No one’s getting a medal for a training run.” Her first event, the women’s Super-G, is set for February 6.
