LPGA react to Lexi Thompson’s return Confirms First 5 Start Of 2025

Lexi Thompson is set to return to professional golf in 2025, despite retiring from full-time competition last year. Her first confirmed appearance will be at the LPGA Founders Cup in Bradenton, Florida. This marks a swift return to the tour for the 11-time LPGA winner.

Thompson has clarified that her retirement was from a full schedule, not from playing entirely. Alongside the Founders Cup, she is expected to participate in major tournaments, including the Chevron Championship and KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Her top-10 finish in 2024 also secured her a spot in the AIG Women’s Open.

In addition to these events, she is likely to compete in the Meijer LPGA Classic, the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational, and the Evian Championship. Each tournament presents an opportunity for Thompson to showcase her talent while maintaining a flexible schedule.

The Founders Cup has undergone changes this year, now held at Bradenton Country Club with a new sponsor, US Virgin Islands. Thompson will be joined by other top golfers, including Brittany Lincicome and defending champion Rose Zhang, as she embarks on this selective return to professional play.
