Maria Sharapova looked effortlessly stylish as she took a stroll through London with a friend on Wednesday, just weeks before the prestigious Wimbledon tournament begins.
The 38-year-old tennis star flaunted her toned figure in a pair of fitted leggings paired with a sporty, long-sleeved top that highlighted her trim silhouette. Completing her laid-back ensemble, the Russian athlete slipped into mint green Nike trainers and added a touch of glamour with chic square-framed sunglasses.
Keeping her look simple, Maria showcased her glowing complexion with minimal makeup and swept her blonde hair into a neat bun, giving off casual yet confident energy.
It’s been just over a year since the Olympic medalist made her return to the court following a 15-month suspension for testing positive for meldonium at the 2016 Australian Open. Initially banned for two years, her punishment was reduced after the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the infraction was unintentional.
Since then, Sharapova has been steadily rebuilding her career, working her way back up the rankings. Last October, she faced a tough defeat in the first round of the Kremlin Cup against Magdalena Rybarikova.
The former world number one was also set to face Serena Williams at this year’s French Open, but their much-anticipated match was called off when Serena withdrew due to injury. Despite her challenging record against Williams, whom she has beaten only twice in 21 encounters, Maria remains optimistic about their rivalry. “No matter the record, I always look forward to playing against the best,” she said.
As Wimbledon approaches, all eyes will be on Sharapova to see if she can channel her focus and form to make another deep run in one of tennis’s biggest tournaments.
