Maria Sharapova, the former tennis star, made headlines on Tuesday after sharing some exciting personal news on Instagram — she’s expecting her first child.
The 35-year-old wrote playfully in her post, “Precious beginnings!!! 🤍👼🏻 Eating birthday cake for two has always been my specialty,” alongside a photo revealing her pregnancy.
Sharapova, originally from Russia, has built an impressive career both on and off the court. She captured five Grand Slam titles during her playing days, winning Wimbledon in 2004, the U.S. Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, and the French Open in 2012 and 2014.
Away from tennis, she became a global celebrity. In 2006, she appeared in the prestigious Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, joining a select group of athletes who have posed for the iconic magazine. Other tennis stars, including Serena Williams, Genie Bouchard, and Anna Kournikova, have also graced its pages.
