“My wife wanted…”: Andy Murray makes candid confession about children following birth of fourth child

British tennis star Andy Murray may have countless achievements on the court, but he says his greatest pride comes from home life with his wife, Kim Sears, and their four children.

The Wimbledon champion and Kim, who married in April 2015, are parents to Sophia, Edie, Teddie, and their youngest daughter, born in March. In a recent chat with This Morning’s Alison Hammond, Murray offered a rare look into their busy household, revealing that it’s the little moments that mean the most.

“Seeing the kids sitting nicely at the table, eating their food, and going to bed on time — those are the things that make me proud,” he shared, according to The Mirror.

Their eldest, Sophia, has already shown an interest in tennis. “She plays once a week,” Murray said. “If she wanted to take it further, I’d support her, but right now, it’s about having fun with friends.”

When asked by The Times if he and Kim plan to expand their family, Murray laughed: “My wife wanted four kids. I was fine with three — she always wanted a big family. But it’s all done now.” When pressed to confirm if that meant “no more children,” he responded with a firm, “Exactly.”

The 34-year-old, who describes himself as a “soft” dad, admitted that parenting can be as challenging as it is rewarding. “My five-year-old already asks so many questions — constant ‘Why, Daddy?’ about everything,” he joked.

During lockdown, Murray discovered a few things about himself — mainly what he’s not good at. “I’m a terrible cook,” he confessed. “I follow recipes exactly, but it never comes out right. I have no idea how to fix it.”

Andy and Kim’s love story began in 2005. After nearly a decade together, they got engaged in 2014 and tied the knot at Dunblane Cathedral the following year. The couple now live in Oxshott, Surrey, where they’re raising their growing family away from the spotlight.

Despite his legendary status in tennis, it’s clear Murray’s proudest victories happen off the court — around the family dinner table.
