Nelly Korda Charges Into Contention After Strong Second Round at The Annika.
Nelly Korda put herself firmly back in the title race at The Annika after producing an impressive second-round performance at Pelican Golf Club in Florida. The American carded a seven-under-par 63 on Friday, lifting her to six under overall and within three shots of the leaders heading into the weekend.
Grace Kim and Linn Grant share the top spot on nine under par after strong rounds of 66 and 63 respectively. England’s Charley Hull is also well placed, sitting at five under and very much in contention as the tournament moves into its third round.
Korda, who won this event last year and became the first player in 13 years to claim seven victories in a single season, is still searching for her first win of the current campaign. Her sharp turnaround on Friday has given her a strong chance of repeating last year’s success.
Meanwhile, Kai Trump, the eldest granddaughter of US President Donald Trump, saw her tournament come to an early end. Playing on a sponsor exemption in her LPGA debut, the high school senior failed to make the cut, finishing last in the field at 18 over par. Despite improving by eight shots from her opening round of 83 with a second-round 75, it was not enough to advance.
Reflecting on her experience, Trump admitted nerves affected her opening round but said she felt calmer and more settled on day two, which helped her performance.
