Nelly Korda dubs Florida golf courses ‘not best’ while detailing her equipment change at FM Championship

Nelly Korda shared her thoughts on Florida’s golf courses and her new equipment choice at the FM Championship press conference. Fresh from a T10 finish at the CPKC Women’s Open, the American star returned to action in Boston this week.

Korda made a notable switch to a TaylorMade blade-style putter, hoping the change will spark her first victory of the season. Explaining her decision, she said Florida courses hadn’t been in the best condition, as many had just reopened after maintenance. That, combined with her past success with this type of putter, motivated the change.

The world No. 2 has struggled to find a win this year despite multiple strong finishes, including a runner-up spot at the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Last season, she claimed seven titles, highlighting the contrast in form. With the new putter in play, fans are eager to see if she can turn things around this week.

Korda began the FM Championship strongly, carding a five-under 67 in the opening round. Despite an early bogey, she recovered with seven birdies to finish tied for fifth. Sei Young Kim, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, and Allisen Corpuz shared the lead after day one, while Miranda Wang held solo fourth. The tournament runs until Sunday, August 31.
