No Palmer exemptions for Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, says grandson

Sam Saunders, grandson of Arnold Palmer, confirmed that Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth will not receive exemptions for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Despite their popularity, the exemption committee, which Saunders is part of, did not select them for the prestigious event.

Saunders emphasized that the selection process focused on fairness and rewarding players performing at the highest level. Rafael Campos, ranked No. 180, revealed he was granted an exemption, aligning with Palmer’s legacy of supporting emerging talents who embody his spirit. The official list of exemptions has yet to be announced.

Fowler and Spieth still have a chance to qualify by winning the Cognizant Classic this week. Fowler was tied for seventh at 10 under par, while Spieth stood at 25th with seven under through two rounds. The Arnold Palmer Invitational will take place from March 6-9 at Bay Hill.
