Paige Spiranac Claims Her Scenes Were Cut From Happy Gilmore Weeks After Release

While out on the course, YouTube golfer Garrett Clark asked Paige Spiranac about her cameo in Happy Gilmore 2—and her answer came with a twist fans didn’t see coming. Paige shared that she played “Wendy,” a Dick’s Sporting Goods employee, and even filmed a scene with Adam Sandler as he performed his legendary swing. But when the movie hit Netflix on July 25, her speaking parts had been edited out.

Paige laughed while explaining how the role unfolded. “I was a Dick’s employee named Wendy. I went for a costume fitting, and they wanted to make it sexier. But Dick’s insisted on the real uniform—so I ended up in slacks and a polo,” she joked. Not exactly the glamorous cameo fans might have pictured, but she had fun with it.

When asked if she had any dialogue, she revealed the surprise: “Yeah, I had a couple of lines, but they cut them all.” That left her with a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance—short but still memorable thanks to her behind-the-scenes story.

Despite losing her lines, Paige couldn’t hide her excitement about filming with Sandler. “It was incredible. I got to do my scene with Adam Sandler, and he did the iconic swing right in front of me. I had a line, and I was shaking—I was so nervous. It was such an honor because Happy Gilmore is one of my all-time favorite movies,” she said.

Golf and Hollywood have long shared quirky crossovers. The original Happy Gilmore turned into a cult classic nearly 30 years ago, paving the way for pros and celebrities to make surprise appearances on screen. The sequel continues that tradition, with stars like Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy, and Jordan Spieth joining the cast.

Golf’s presence in film isn’t new—Lee Trevino popped up in Caddyshack (1980), Phil Mickelson in Tin Cup (1996), and documentaries like The Short Game (2013) showcased rising stars. Today, the line between sports and entertainment is even thinner, as influencers like Spiranac, along with Hollywood names such as Mark Wahlberg and Justin Timberlake, embrace golf both on and off screen.

From athletes like Steph Curry and Patrick Mahomes to UFC’s Daniel Cormier, more stars are finding a second home on the fairways. For Paige, her short-lived role in Happy Gilmore proves one thing: she doesn’t need lines to leave an impression—her humor and candid stories keep fans hooked.
