Raducanu still ‘finding feet’ but wins again on clay

Emma Raducanu continued her clay-court resurgence with a confident 6-2 6-2 win over Jil Teichmann at the Italian Open, securing her place in the last 32 for the first time in Rome. This marked her second consecutive win on clay.

The British number two adjusted quickly to facing Teichmann, a last-minute opponent, and adapted well to her left-handed playstyle. Despite not feeling fully comfortable on clay, Raducanu showed focus and resilience throughout the match.

Working with coach Mark Petchey, Raducanu is embracing a more aggressive game plan on clay. Her dominant baseline play and improved serve helped her control the match and avoid long, draining rallies typical on this surface.

Now ranked inside the top 50, Raducanu will face Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova in the third round. With each match, the 22-year-old continues refining her game ahead of the French Open, showing promise despite tougher challenges ahead.
