Sam Kerr hits the beach as Matildas relax after win over the Philippines…

The Matildas took some time out on Monday to unwind at Perth’s City Beach following two emphatic victories in their latest international fixtures. Captain Sam Kerr led her teammates as they splashed in the water and stretched out on the sand, making the most of a well-earned break.

Among those enjoying the downtime was Mary Fowler, who spent the afternoon with her wife rather than facing questions about past rumours linking her to NRL star Nathan Cleary. Fowler and her partner looked relaxed as they joined the team in soaking up the Western Australian sunshine.

On the pitch, the Matildas have been in scintillating form. They followed up a solid 2-0 win over Iran with a crushing 8-0 triumph against the Philippines, where Kerr and Caitlin Foord both netted hat-tricks. Fowler also found the back of the net, alongside substitute Clare Wheeler, highlighting the firepower Gustavsson’s side brings into Olympic qualifying.

Coach Tony Gustavsson has made it clear that while rest and recovery are vital, he wants his stars ready to handle the intensity of tournament football. With Taiwan up next, the team faces another quick turnaround, but the Matildas look determined to build on their momentum as they edge closer to sealing a spot at the Paris Olympics.
