Matildas captain Sam Kerr stunned fans with a bold new look in Nike’s latest global ad, Scary Good, alongside soccer icons like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé, Cole Palmer, and Ronaldinho. Kerr was dubbed “Australia’s most dangerous striker.”
Still recovering from an ACL injury, Kerr’s return to competitive play remains uncertain. However, she’s resumed light training and gym sessions, raising hopes she’ll be ready when the Women’s Super League kicks off on September 6.
Coach Joe Montemurro emphasized patience, stating that her recovery process is individualized and closely coordinated with Chelsea. Kerr’s absence from the recent Matildas squad highlights the cautious approach being taken.
Off the field, Kerr and fiancée Kristie Mewis welcomed their son, Jagger, in May. The couple, engaged since 2023, plan to marry later this year, marking another milestone in their journey together.
