Serena Williams lit up New York on Thursday night as she joined fellow tennis stars at a glamorous US Open party just days before the tournament begins. The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who retired in 2022, was among the high-profile guests at a “Welcome to New York” dinner hosted by DraftKings and hospitality mogul David Grutman at the Crane Club in Manhattan.

The 43-year-old arrived in style, wearing a chic white halter-neck top paired with a sleek midi skirt, and mingled with stars including Aryna Sabalenka, Taylor Fritz, Juan Martin del Potro, Ben Shelton, and Nick Kyrgios. Guests enjoyed a curated menu by Michelin-starred chef Melissa Rodriguez and a custom cocktail list while celebrating the start of the US Open festivities.

Williams’ appearance came shortly after she revealed she has lost 31 pounds over the past year with the help of Zepbound, a GLP-1 weight loss medication. She admitted she turned to the treatment after struggling with postpartum weight gain following the births of her daughters Olympia in 2017 and Adira in 2023. Despite maintaining a strict training and nutrition routine, she found her weight plateaued until she sought medical support.

While acknowledging the stigma surrounding weight loss drugs, Serena stressed that the decision was about health, not appearance. She explained that the extra weight had been causing her joint pain, adding that she has always felt confident regardless of size. Meanwhile, her sister Venus continues to compete and is set to play in the US Open singles draw after receiving a wild card entry.
