Camila Giorgi, the former Italian tennis star turned model, has spoken out after reports accused her of fleeing Italy to evade tax authorities. She retired in May under unclear circumstances, sparking intense public speculation.
Giorgi, once ranked world No. 30, allegedly failed to pay rent and took furniture when leaving her Florence home. Authorities also uncovered multiple gaps in her and her family’s tax filings, prompting a deeper investigation.
Her lawyer, Edmondo Tomaselli, dismissed claims she fled. He clarified that Giorgi has been away for professional reasons and is currently in Rome, not hiding from any legal matters or authorities.
Despite the controversy, Giorgi has moved into modelling. Her team insists her departure was unrelated to any misconduct and that she remains available to address any official inquiries if required.
