Jordan Spieth surged up the leaderboard at The Memorial Tournament with a well-crafted 3-under 69. Despite a slow start, he climbed nine spots to sit 3-under overall, one of only 11 players under par.
Spieth’s round was a tale of patience and late momentum. After mixing early bogeys and birdies, he caught fire with birdies on 15, 17, and 18, capitalizing on improved putting and a break in the weather.
Statistically dominant, Spieth leads in strokes gained on approach at +3.223 and sits fifth in total strokes gained. He credited strong ball-striking and late-round conditions for his surge.
Now four shots behind leaders Ben Griffin and Nick Taylor, Spieth looks ahead to the weekend. With high winds forecast, he welcomes the test, saying, “This course doesn’t lie—it tells you exactly where your game is.”
